Insurance & Payment Information
Thank you for choosing Wú Wéi Wellness for your care. The information below outlines what to expect regarding insurance, billing, and clinic policies prior to your first visit.
Insurance Coverage
Private Insurance
Acupuncture is considered an essential health benefit in Oregon, and many private insurance plans include coverage. Most plans offer a minimum of 12 visits per year, though benefits vary by carrier and individual plan.
We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm your specific benefits. Helpful questions include:
-
Do I need a referral?
-
Do I have a copay or coinsurance?
-
What is my deductible, and has it been met?
-
Are acupuncture services covered under my plan?
We bill insurance directly when benefits can be verified. If coverage cannot be confirmed or a claim is denied, the patient is responsible for any remaining balance.
Medicare, Medicaid, OHP
We do not accept traditional Medicare or Medicaid at this time.
Medicare currently provides limited acupuncture coverage only when performed under specific medical supervision and for select conditions, which does not include services provided by licensed acupuncturists in this setting.
However, some Medicare Advantage plans (commercial plans administered by private insurers) may include acupuncture benefits.
If your plan includes out-of-network or in-network acupuncture coverage, we may be able to bill your plan based on your specific benefits.
The Oregon Health Plan (OHP) may offer limited acupuncture coverage for select conditions and typically requires a referral from a medical provider.
Motor Vehicle Accidents & Workers' Compensation
We accept Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) and Workers’ Compensation (WC) claims.
Oregon auto insurance policies typically include Personal Injury Protection (PIP), which may cover acupuncture care for injuries sustained in motor vehicle, bicycle, or pedestrian accidents.
Workers’ Compensation claims require appropriate authorization and may require referral depending on the case.

Payment & Financial Responsibility
If your plan is out-of-network, payment is due at the time of service. We can provide a detailed receipt (Superbill) upon request for potential reimbursement. Many patients receive partial reimbursement or apply costs toward their deductible.
Payment is due at the time of service unless prior arrangements have been made or insurance coverage has been verified and accepted. Any balances not covered by insurance remain the patient’s responsibility.
Payment Options
We accept credit and debit cards, cash, checks, and HSA / HRA / FSA accounts.

We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or appointment changes. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee.
