What does the treatment consist of?
Together we will review your medical history, health concerns, and current medications, including a discussion of your main skin concern and skincare goals.
You will be asked to undress to your comfort level for your facial, as some bodywork on your upper body will be done as well. Although uncomfortable at times, facials should be a relaxing experience, so please communicate openly with your esthetician about pressure, comfort level, and any allergies you might have. The goal of a facial is to provide a set of treatments that will cleanse, exfoliate, remove impurities and dead skin from the areas of attention, and end with a massage and a mask. All treatments use nutrient-rich, non-toxic products with proven actives to support the skin's optimal health and function. It is important to remember that you may not look picture-perfect immediately after your appointment as you may experience some redness for hours after your appointment.
What about after?
As with most modalities, the effects vary among individuals and are based on your sensitivity as well as the treatment strategy itself. To maximize your facial, keep the skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water and increasing your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables after treatment. Do not touch your face, pick at pimples, or use heavy make-up after your facial, nor visit a sauna or steam room after, and avoid wax or laser treatments on your face for at least a week. Your facialist will make customized recommendations for an at-home treatment plan and follow-up treatments to help you with your skincare goals. Regular treatments are encouraged every 4-6 weeks to maintain your body's innate wellness.
High-Frequency
High frequency increases oxygen to the skin, improving the overall texture, tone, and glow, and helps to treat acne problems. All of this promotes collagen stimulation and elastin production, providing a firmer and more youthful appearance. High-Frequency provides benefits for those with blemish-prone acne vulgaris, seborrhea, and acne-type skin, including oily, congested, problematic, and combination skin types.
High frequency is a safe and gentle procedure with no downtime. You will need to protect your skin with moisturizer and sunblock for 48 hours after the treatment and may experience mild redness and sloughing/peeling. For the best result, a series of high-frequency services — 3 to 6 is recommended. These initial treatments can be spaced one week apart. Treatments can continue on a monthly basis for the best maintenance.
Microcurrent
Widely known as the nonsurgical face-lift, a microcurrent facial diminishes signs of aging, improve your face contour, and brightens your complexion. It makes use of low-voltage electrical current to stimulate collagen and elastin production in your skin. It also repairs damaged tissues and re-educates the facial muscles to become firmer and tighter. The facial muscles are the only muscles in your body that are attached directly to the skin. As we age, these muscles become weaker, which leads to sagging skin.
Microcurrent does this by enhancing your skin's adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, which in turn, stimulates collagen and elastin synthesis. As a result, this facial treatment helps to slow down and replenish the loss of natural collagen in your skin. ATP is also the primary energy source for muscle movements. What this means is that by increasing ATP levels within your body, a microcurrent facial helps to re-energize your facial muscles to improve muscle tone. Microcurrent also increases blood circulation. At the cellular level, this improves nutrient and oxygen supply which results in a more radiant and healthier complexion. Microcurrent facials' efficacy in improving lymphatic drainage has been supported in a 2016 study by the “Art Plastic” Clinic in Moscow, Russia.
One thing to note, though, is that these benefits have a cumulative effect. In other words, facial improvements are more pronounced and longer-lasting with regular treatments. To maintain the anti-aging benefits, schedule a follow-up session every few weeks as recommended by your esthetician.
Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure for your skin. Your practitioner uses a special medical-grade instrument to shave away the uppermost layers of your skin. Dermaplaning can help reduce the appearance of acne scars, discolorations, or other skin imperfections by revealing newer, undamaged skin. Although widely known for its rejuvenating effect on the skin, this treatment also tames the peach fuzz that so many people are bothered by. This safe exfoliation treatment also promotes deeper product penetration, boosting the effects of skin care products while making the skin look and feel smoother.
We recommend that most patients wait at least four weeks before their next appointment. Four weeks will give your skin enough time to bounce back and replenish itself after being exfoliated. And because it will take some time for the facial hair to regrow, you won’t need another treatment right away anyway.
One thing to note, this treatment does not impact or alter your hair follicles, nor will it influence the rate at which your facial hair grows. Only genetics can determine how fast your hair will grow, and hormones are responsible for deciding where you grow dark, thick hair and where you grow light, thin, vellus hair.
